Mr Robert Harris
Mr Harris qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1996. He was awarded Bachelor of Science with Honours in Anatomy and Molecular Genetics from an intercalated course and research. He trained in surgery in West London before specialising in ENT. He received specialist registrar training in London, with the hub at St George’s Hospital and a period as a senior trainee at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. He gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons and he is on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council (GMC no. 4308238).
During his specialist registrar training, he completed a degree course in Audio-Vestibular disorders at the Institute of Child Health resulting in a Masters of Science from The University of London. He was awarded a number of highly prestigious scholarships to support overseas Fellowships at two of the most internationally respected centres in their field: in Otology and Cochlear Implant surgery in Sydney, and in Paediatric ENT in Paris.
Mr Harris has accrued a log book of thousands of surgical procedures. He performs over 500 ear, nose and throat surgical procedures every year, on which he keeps outcome data, which is audited to ensure the highest quality.
He is frequently the first choice recommendation for an ENT specialist by theatre teams and hospital staff and he is widely regarded by his anaesthetic colleagues as a surgeon with safe practice, high standards of care, efficient operating skills and a calm collected demeanour in elective and acute situations. He has an excellent record in continuous professional development and medical education and is a regular lecturer at national and international courses.
He is already at level 3 NHS Clinical Excellence Award, which are awarded to consultants who perform over and above the standard expected of their role.
He firmly believes that communication with patients and his colleagues is the foundation for safety and success and he works closely with his team to deliver friendly, personalised, professional high quality care in ENT for adults and children.
Married with 2 daughters, he is a keen cyclist and runner. In 2009, he participated in a voluntary humanitarian ear surgery camp in the most remote communities of Nepal, and he has plans to return in the near future.
“Of all of my achievements, it is the patient feedback that means most to me and that I am most proud of.”
